Patrons & Ambassadors
Our patron is Mr Leon Daphne
Respected for his fine stewardship as Managing Director of Nissan Australia from 1991 until December 2004, Leon Daphne’s career has included presidency of the Richmond Football Club from 1993 till 1999, plus various other positions including the chairmanship of the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council.
Mr Daphne enjoys an active retirement that includes golf, tennis and spending time with his wife Kerry, their four children and five grandkids. Happily, he always manages to find time to devote ongoing support to Windermere’s important work in our local community.
Our key ambassador is former AFL football star Matthew Richardson
Matthew Richardson started his football career in his hometown of Devonport and grew up barracking for his father Alan, who played in the Tigers' 1967 premiership side.
Matthew made his AFL debut with Richmond in 1993. In his first season he was an AFL Rising Star nominee, making a name for himself as an enigmatic full forward capable of producing great feats of high jumping and marking.
After having played 282 AFL games, taken more than 1,600 marks and kicked some 800 career goals, Matthew is a well known champion of the game, and a fabulous ambassador for Windermere – supporting us in our work with disadvantaged kids, and lending his name and valuable time to help increase Windermere’s profile and generate support for our work in the community.
In fact, Matthew has previously been officially recognised for his work, receiving a major AFL charity award for doing the most charity work of any player in the competition.
