What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
Dietitians use the science of food and nutrition to promote health, wellbeing & independence. They also provide nutrition advice for the treatment of diseases and conditions.
Dietitians are degree qualified to provide a range of dietary counselling and evidence-based nutrition services. In Australia Accredited Practising dietitians must meet a range of regulatory and professional standards. You can find out more here.
While a nutritionist gives advice on nutrition and food in order to achieve good health. Nutritionists are qualified to provide advice about general health rather than working in clinical and therapeutic settings such as hospitals.
