Accessing NDIS

How do I access the NDIS?

How do I get NDIS services for my child under 12 years old (Early Childhood Early Intervention Services)?

If your child is 12 years and under and has a developmental delay or disability they may be able to access Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) services funded under the NDIS.

You can find out more about eligibility for the NDIS here.

Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) services are designed to support your child’s development and wellbeing. To receive ECEI services your child needs to be on a registered waitlist. You can register your child by contacting the NDIA or your Local Area Coordinator (LAC).

How do I apply for an NDIS plan for my child?

You will need to have an approved NDIS plan before you can access NDIS funding.
Your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) will help you to develop your NDIS plan. You can find out more the NDIS planning process, and tips to help you prepare your NDIS plan here.

Our Early Childhood Early Intervention Partner Local Area Coordinators (LACs) have been appointed by the NDIA to guide you through the NDIS planning process.

Contact our LACs/ECEI partners to register for the NDIS and get assistance with your NDIS application:

How do I apply for an NDIS plan as a teen or adult?

To get the NDIS when you are aged between 13 – 65 years you will first need to have an approved NDIS plan.

You can apply for an NDIS plan through your Local Area Coordinator. (LAC). LACs are appointed by the NDIA and they are here to help with an NDIS application and to access NDIS services.

You can find out more about how to apply for an NDIS plan and tips to help you prepare your NDIS plan here.

Our LAC for teens and adults is La Trobe Community Health. They will help you through the NDIS planning process and can be contacted on 1800 800 110.

What happens after I contact the LAC?

Once you have registered with your LAC you will need to complete an NDIS Access Request form and provide evidence of your disability, or developmental delay (for children under 7 who have not yet received a formal diagnosis).

Please note: You can no longer access a request form online; you will need to phone NDIA to receive the access request form.

You may choose to access NDIS supports through:

  • Existing mainstream and community services
  • Help to maintain your informal support arrangements
  • Reasonable and necessary supports from a registered NDIS service provider.

Once your NDIS plan is confirmed you can choose how you want to receive your supports and who you want to receive them from.
