Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with you and your child to develop the skills they need to build independence in their day to day activities. We provide service to children and youth aged 0 – 12 years who may be demonstrating delays or difficulties with their development including gross and fine motor skills and social skills.

We deliver evidence informed strategies, standardised assessments, report writing, funding applications and parent training to develop your child’s skills and increase their confidence, self-esteem and independence.

We can help your child with:

  • Self-care skills – developing skills to master everyday activities independently. You may find this useful if your child needs help dressing or tying shoe laces or completing tasks in a logical order..
  • School skills – we build on your child's core and upper limb strength and coordination to assist them to develop critical skills used in school like writing, cutting and sitting.
  • Play skills –  play is children’s “work”, it helps to develop their social, cognitive and motor skills. We can help your child to develop the fine motor skills, strength, and hand-eye coordination that are needed for play.
  • Sensory, social and emotional control – your child’s sensory experiences may impact on their behaviour, especially their ability to monitor and manage their emotions. You may find this useful if your child is overly sensitive to sensations such as tags on their clothes or bathing in water or when your child does not appear to easily register sensations such as pain or temperature.

We have Occupational Therapists who are experienced in prescribing assistive technology and can conduct equipment trials and funding applications for items such as supported seating, bathing equipment, toileting equipment and beds.

Our Occupational Therapists are based in Southern Victoria and West Gippsland regions. We have offices at Berwick, Narre Warren, Cranbourne, Pakenham and Warragul. We can also work with you and your child at your home, school or pre-school.
